title : Fundamentals of Solar Radiation Type de document : printed text Auteur : Lucien Wald, Author Editeur : london : CRC Press Date de publication : 2021 Nombre de pages : 235p. Dimensions : 24*17 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-0-367-72592-1 Langue : English (eng) Langue originale : English (eng) Indexation : Oeng Résumé : The sun radiates a tremendous amount of energy, called solar energy or solar radiation, which is the main natural source of energy on the Earth, by far. Because solar radiation is the almost unique supplier of energy to the Earth, it has a primary influence on life and activities on the Earth. The climate is a first example, but there are many others, such as plant growth or human health, or even the design of buildings, the production of energy, notably electrical and thermal, or even aging materials. This book aims to provide simple answers to anyone who has questions about solar radiation. Its ambition is to help by presenting the fundamental elements of the solar radiation received on the ground. The book includes many examples and numerous illustrations, as well as some simple but fairly precise equations to calculate the various elements covered and to reproduce the figures and graphs. The first of the three parts of this book is devoted to the relative geometry between the direction of the sun and an observer on the ground as well as to the solar radiation emitted by the sun and received at the top of the atmosphere. The orbit of the Earth around the sun and the solar declination are described. The concept of time is introduced which is closely linked to the solar cycle and the rotation of the Earth on itself. Equations are given to calculate the solar radiation received on a horizontal or inclined surface located at the top of the atmosphere. The spectral distribution of the extraterrestrial solar radiation is described. The second part of this book addresses how the solar radiation incident at the top of the atmosphere is attenuated and modified in its downward path to the ground. The reflection of the radiation by the ground is presented. The solar radiation received on the ground by a horizontal or inclined collector plane, such as a natural slope or a rooftop, is discussed, as well as its spectral distribution. The variability of the radiation is addressed in relation to the properties of solar radiation estimated from the measurements. The third part deals with direct or indirect measurements of the solar radiation received on the ground over a given integration time (minute, hour, day, or month), whether for total radiation or radiation in a spectral range such as ultraviolet (UV), or daylight, or photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). It also explains how to check the plausibility of the measurements. Fundamentals of Solar Radiation will be a valuable resource to all professionals, engineers, researchers, students, and other practitioners that seek an understanding of solar radiation. title : Optimal and Robust Control : Advanced Topics with MATLAB Type de document : printed text Auteur : Luigi Fortuna, Author Editeur : london : CRC Press Date de publication : 2024 Nombre de pages : 305p. Dimensions : 24*16 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-1-03-205301-1 Langue : English (eng) Langue originale : English (eng) Indexation : Oeng Résumé : There are many books on advanced control for specialists, but not many present these topics for non- specialists. Assuming only a basic knowledge of automatic control and signals and systems, this second edition of Optimal and Robust Control offers a straightforward, self-contained handbook of advanced topics and tools in automatic control. The book deals with advanced automatic control techniques, paying particular attention to robustness-the ability to guarantee stability in the presence of uncertainty. It explains advanced techniques for handling uncertainty and optimizing the control loop. It also details analytical strategies for obtaining reduced order models. The authors then propose using the Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) technique as a unifying tool to solve many types of advanced control problems. Topics covered in the book include, LQR and H8 approaches Kalman and singular value decomposition Open-loop balancing and reduced order models Closed-loop balancing Positive-real systems, bounded-real systems, and imaginary-negative systems Criteria for stability control Time-delay systems This easy-to-read text presents the essential theoretical background and provides numerous examples and MATLAB® exercises to help the reader efficiently acquire new skills. Written for electrical, electronic, computer science, space, and automation engineers interested in automatic control, this book can also be used for self-study of for a one-semester course in robust control. This fully renewed second edition of the book also includes new fundamental topics such as Lyapunov functions for stability, variational calculus, formulation in terms of optimization problems of matrix algebraic equations, negative-imaginary systems, and time-delay systems. title : State Estimation for Robotics Type de document : printed text Auteur : Timothy D. Barfoot, Author Editeur : london : Cambridge University Press Date de publication : 2024 Nombre de pages : 513p. Dimensions : 26*18 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-1-00-929989-3 Langue : English (eng) Langue originale : English (eng) Indexation : Oeng Résumé : A key aspect of robotics today is estimating the state (e.g., position and orientation) of a robot, based on noisy sensor data. This book targets students and practitioners of robotics by presenting classical state estimation methods (e.g., the Kalman filter) but also important modern topics such as batch estimation, Bayes filter, sigmapoint and particle filters, robust estimation for outlier rejection, and continuous-time trajectory estimation and its connection to Gaussian-process regression. Since most robots operate in a three-dimensional world, common sensor models (e.g., camera, laser rangefinder) are provided followed by practical advice on how to carry out state estimation for rotational state variables. The book covers robotic applications such as point-cloud alignment, pose-graph relaxation, bundle adjustment, and simultaneous localization and mapping. Highlights of this expanded second edition include a new chapter on variational inference, a new section on inertial navigation, more introductory material on probability, and a primer on matrix calculus.
