title : Geostatistics for the Mining Industry : Applications to porphyry copper deposits Type de document : printed text Auteur : Xavier Emery, Author Editeur : New york : CRC Press Date de publication : 2023 Nombre de pages : 247p. Dimensions : 25*18 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-0-367-64369-0 Langue : English (eng) Langue originale : English (eng) Indexation : Min Résumé : This book covers the main mining issues where geostatistics, a discipline founded in the 1960s to st udy regionalized variables measured at a limited number of points in space, is expected to play a role. Each chapter of the book is associated with a stage of the mining sequence, including the interpretation and geological modeling of mineral deposits, evaluation of in-situ and recoverable resources, long-term mine planning, short-term planning and ore control, geotechnics, geometallurgy and sampling. This work, featuring more than 150 illustrations, avoids the traditional laborious and crippling theoretical treatment of geostatistics and is systematically oriented toward a practical exhibition of the problems and proposed solutions. The writing is fluid and intended to involve the reader. The book is the fruit of more than 35 cumulative years of applied research by the authors, a professor at the University of Chile and a researcher at Mines ParisTech, carried out in collaboration with the Chilean company Codelco since the late 1990s. Despite focusing on copper porphyry deposits, the generalization of the methods presented to the entire mining industry is straightforward. The broad range of problems addressed, including generally neglected disciplines such as geotechnics, geometallurgy and sampling, and their practical presentation make this book unique and usable by a very wide audience – students, researchers, geologists, engineers, geotechnicians and metallurgists. title : Hydraulic Fracturing and Rock Mechanics Type de document : printed text Auteur : Yu Zhao, Author Editeur : New york : Springer Date de publication : 2023 Nombre de pages : 268p. Dimensions : 24*16 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-981-9925-39-1 Langue : English (eng) Langue originale : English (eng) Indexation : Min Résumé : This open access book is the first to consider the effect of non-uniform fluid pressure in hydraulic fractures. The book covers the key topics in the process of hydraulic fracture nucleation, growth, interaction and fracture network formation. Laboratory experiments and theoretical modeling are combined to elucidate the formation mechanism of complex fracture networks. This book is suitable for master’s/Ph.D. students, scientists and engineers majoring in rock mechanics and petroleum engineering who need to use a more reliable model to predict fracture behavior. title : Rock Indentation : Experiments and Analyses Type de document : printed text Auteur : Chivukula Murthy, Author Editeur : New york : CRC Press Date de publication : 2023 Nombre de pages : 270p. Dimensions : 24*16 ISBN (ou autre code) : 978-1-03-200845-5 Langue : English (eng) Langue originale : English (eng) Indexation : Min Résumé : This book focusses on rock indentation and importance of specific drilling/cutting energy as a perfo rmance indicator for drilling/rock cutting. It aids in designing of drill bits and cutting picks, through performance evaluation for a given geometry. It further covers stress distribution along three axes in rock during load application, correlation of specific energy with properties of rocks and statistical modelling to generate mathematical equation to estimate the specific energy indentation, including performance prediction by artificial neural network modelling. Presented models can be used to assess the specific energy in rock indentation from the physic-mechanical properties of rocks. Presents synthesis of rock indentation experiments and analyses Deals with statistical modeling to generate mathematical equations to estimate the specific energy indentation from the rock parameters/properties Discusses how to find the performance of drill and cutting bits during drilling or cutting operations through indentation test Covers numerical modeling to explain stress distribution in rock during rock indentation Includes artificial neural network concepts used in field of rock mechanics This book is aimed at researchers and graduate students in mining/geological engineering, and mechanical engineering.
